TACTICS AND PRACTICE

Plan your field placement.

Choose a fielder and tap or click the field diagram to move the marker. Use the layout to discuss ideas with teammates or plan a practice drill.

Illustrative planning diagram only. It does not enforce fielding restrictions, boundary distances, bowling ends or competition-specific rules.

How to use the field planner

  1. Choose a fielder from the dropdown list.
  2. Tap or click the desired position on the oval.
  3. Repeat for other fielders to sketch an arrangement.

  5. Download the plan as a text file to keep a simple record of marker positions.

Think about the batter and match situation

Field placements are tactical decisions. Captains and bowlers consider the batter's strengths, likely scoring areas, bowling plan, pitch behaviour, format and score or target. A diagram can help communicate an idea, but it cannot replace discussion about execution and risk.

Check the rules before play

Official playing conditions can limit the number of fielders allowed in certain areas or during particular phases. This planner is a visual aid only and does not enforce such restrictions. Check the rules that apply to your match.
